“We’re a big hockey family and I’m fine with it,” says his mom, Jackie Lass, who happens to be a manager of the team. He recently had the logo of his youth hockey team, the Arrows, snipped into his hair. Generally, says Dennehy, “clients 12 and under are getting cuts that have a lot to do with sports.” Some, like Jordan Lass, 10, of Wantagh, are all about team spirit. Hair types can determine how the Edgar turns out, but mostly, notes Dennehy, “The style is really directed toward the front of the face the weight of the hair is mopped forward,” and it’s particularly dramatic on curly-haired types. Barbers at MadMen call the cut “Quema,” which in Spanish translates to “burning.” But, says Dennehy, “It really means ‘lit,” (in old school lingo, “hip.”) Originally popular with Mexican teens and Latino men, the craze reportedly was spawned by Edgar Martínez, a Seattle Mariners baseball player. There’s an eye-popping array of boys’ styles these days including dramatic fades, combovers (not the bad kind), mullets (yes, still thriving believe it or not), faux-hawks and a cut dubbed the “Edgar,” named after a famous sports player, reigning supreme.Īt MadMen Barbershops in Williston Park and Wantagh, co-owner Edward Dennehy says, “75% of all kids’ haircuts are a variation on the Edgar,” which is a cross between a fade and a bowl cut. The "Edgar" is the most popular cut among teens at MadMen Barbershops. However it is later mentioned that the time is only 6:54 AM. In Chapter Eleven, Tex has spent the night without a sleep and notices the first rays of light.Everywhere else is established that Tex lives in Old San Francisco. In Chapter Four, Tex mentions that he is returning to his office, at the New San Francisco. There are several logical and plot mistakes in the narrative: The final ending of the game (meeting The Colonel and Eva in the bar, and dancing lessons with Delores Lightbody) is also changed to continue this style. Scenes and characters from the game that did not relate to the Moon Child plot were removed.Ĭountess Renier is portrayed as an old lady, whereas in the game she is a consummate woman. The basic plot, characters, and setting remain mostly the same, but there are several differences, including extra information, new characters, more detailed descriptions and motivations, and other more radical changes such as character deaths. Beretta recently announced the APX A1, so the APX series is likely being clearanced out. I didn’t even expect to see Beretta on this list, but here we are. You can swap the sights easily enough as well.Īll in all, I’m not the type of person who insists that name brands are the be all end all to firearms, but a reputable brand making an affordable firearm is a nice touch. You have a rail on the frame, but that’s about it. Like the Taurus, you don’t get much in the way of accessories. It doesn’t have ambidextrous features or anything that stands out in the gun’s design, but it’s a solid base that allows for easy manipulations. The trigger is fairly solid, and the grip angle encourages a good high grip on the gun. If you do your part, the Ruger Security 9 will do its part. Like most Ruger firearms, it’s built like a tank and keeps going boom when you need it to. The Security 9 delivers a concealed carry or defensive worthy firearm that’s perfectly reliable. Ruger didn’t go with a striker-fired system, and the internal hammer is an interesting choice. Ruger’s little semi-auto is well made and delivers Ruger quality at a surprisingly low price. What helps keeps the Security 9 an affordable firearm is the fact it includes three magazines - that adds a ton of value to the affordable little firecracker. The Security 9 builds on the legacy of the Security 6 but is now a standard, polymer frame, 9mm pistol. As for the Security 9, well it’s affordable for Ruger’s firearms. Ruger produces a ton of weapons with varying price points. We have a full review of the G3C here or you can check out the video review below. Want something more concealable? Check out the Taurus G3C…same digs, just smaller. You can toss something on the rail, but the G3 doesn’t have huge aftermarket just yet. Second, the gun delivers a little bit of slide bite, and my thumbs eternally pin down the slide lock.Īs far as accessories, there aren’t a whole lot. The sights aren’t terrible and are seemingly interchangeable with Glock sights. It’s a little gritty, it’s not very fancy, but it gets the job done. The main downside to the G3 is the okay trigger. When I first got a G3 for review, I took it to task to see if it was worth the bang. The G3 is by far the best gun Taurus has ever produced. In the UK, indie music played an equally central role to the 90s pop scene. Inadvertently spawning another catch-all indie-related term, “alternative rock,” in the process, the success of the grunge pioneers also enabled a welter of fledgling US stars-in-waiting, ranging from punk revivalists Green Day and The Offspring to experimental lo-fi stars Beck and Liz Phair to establish themselves in the long term During the early years of this especially seismic decade, grunge music spearheads Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Soundgarden broke into the mainstream, achieving multi-million sales and a global profile beyond the wildest dreams of the independents that emerged during the post-punk era. The 90s, though, are generally regarded as the golden age for indie music, both creatively and commercially. Indeed, as the decade closed out, indie music had morphed into a genuinely major player, with Manchester’s indie-dance icons The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays surfing the zeitgeist The Cure playing a massive international stadium tour behind their multi-platinum masterpiece Disintegration and Depeche Mode’s Music For The Masses tour concluding with a show at the 90,000-capacity Pasadena Rose Bowl in California. US tours by rising British bands with indie backgrounds, such as New Order and Echo And The Bunnymen, were playing to ever larger arenas, while albums from groundbreaking US indie rock acts, including Sonic Youth’s Daydream Nation, Pixies’ Doolittle and Dinosaur Jr’s Bug remain among the era’s defining records. Signs that indie music was about to go overground became apparent during the late 80s. Originally a cover-mounted cassette released by the UK rock weekly NME, this collection included tracks by future indie music crossover stars including Primal Scream and The Wedding Present, and showed that a new breed of bands tuned into post-punk and guitar-driven 60s pop were very much back in vogue. (released through Miles Copeland and Jay Boberg’s indie imprint, IRS), scooped Rolling Stone’s Album Of The Year award, beating off the challenge of Michael Jackson’s multi-million-selling Thriller in the process.īy the mid-80s, the DIY ethic resonated globally, with respected US-based independents such as SST, Touch & Go, and Twin/Tone gaining a foothold, and notable imprints from far-flung territories such as Australia’s Hot Records and New Zealand’s Flying Nun entering the marketplace.Īlso at this juncture, the rock press had taken to referring to the albums released by self-financed labels as “indie music” – something that was reinforced by the influential 1986 compilation C86. In the US, meanwhile, Murmur, the debut album by a little-known Athens, Georgia, quartet, R.E.M. Indie music’s stock, however, rose dramatically in 1983, when Rough Trade signed The Smiths – arguably the UK’s most important guitar-based band of the decade. However, many small imprints were still the preserve of the have-a-go entrepreneur whose goals were merely to release a lone single and perhaps secure a session on BBC Radio 1’s John Peel show. Issued by Rough Trade, Stiff Little Fingers’ incendiary 1979 debut, Inflammable Material, became the first independently-released album to sell over 100,000 copies, while a few choice indie singles, such as Joy Division’s sublime “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Get Enough,” chalked up bona fide UK Top 30 placings on the cusp of the 80s. Yet, while these landmark imprints attracted reams of critical praise, commercial success initially proved elusive. In fact, such was Spiral Scratch’s impact that, by the end of 1978, the UK alone boasted of hundreds of self-starting imprints with game-changing labels such as Rough Trade, Factory, and Mute already well into their infancy. The fact that it sold out its original pressing of 1,000 copies and then went on to move a further 15,000 copies effectively created the blueprint for independent labels in one fell swoop. First released in April 1977, this influential four-track 7” from the iconic Manchester pop-punk quartet is widely recognized as rock’s first independently-funded and distributed disc. The story of indie music as we know it begins with Buzzcocks’ Spiral Scratch EP. Listen to the best indie music on Spotify. What should be stressed above all else is that the notion of indie music derives from the word “independent”: in this context, small and relatively low-budget record labels inspired by punk’s DIY ethos and releasing music for misfits made by the maverick outsiders who reject the corporate world of rock’n’roll. The myriad bands operating within its parameters are generally labeled “indie rock” or “indie pop,” but in reality, its boundaries are much broader. Rather like goth, indie music is one of pop’s most nebulous genres. Our Vineyard tribe is a home for both of us in the Body of Christ, where the language of worship has always been deeply musical, experiential, and invitational. Sam and I are a natural fit as co-writers, as we both care about intimacy with God, theology enrobed in poetry, and timelessness in lyrics and melody. We hope this song is a blessing to your church, and that it helps those who sing it rejoice in the incredible greatness of God, and the wondrous things He has in store for us.ĭW: I’m moved every time I hear or play this song. It was truly a team effort, and the greatest reward is a new friendship. We would go back and forth, considering our different perspectives. I loved working with Dan for various reasons, but not least because when we disagreed we approached the issue in question using reason, logic, persuasion, and of course – passion. He sent a long recorded message detailing not just every line, but every single word: rearranging, changing lyrics, explaining how they fit, where they fit, where they were weak, how they could be improved, and why it all mattered.įor the next few weeks we wrote, edited, and rewrote in an attempt to get a song we both felt good about. Yes, this is a winner let’s get to work.” Then, with his next message, I knew I’d hit the jackpot in a writing partner. With these three thoughts intact, I sent a rough mp3 off to Dan, thinking he would hear it and shrug and say, “Let’s move on.” Instead he immediately wrote back to me and said something along the lines of, “I have faith for this. I love that! Once these two concepts had been merged, I realized that the only chorus that would make sense would be about God’s endlessness, from beginning to end, and this led to the New Testament revelation of Alpha And Omega. Yet this is good news! Because, as His children, the great things He has in store for us are likewise beyond our reach of language or imagination (no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind conceived). It simply asks, “…By what measure could Your worth be weighed? Or the riches of Your glory by appraised?” because whatever else we might say of God, this is fundamental: His greatness is beyond the reach of any language and craft that we possess. SY: Dan Wilt’s and my song, Alpha And Omega, began with a pre-chorus I wrote years ago inspired by this lofty meditation from Paul’s epistle to the Romans. Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?”įor from him and through him and for him are all things. Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? How unsearchable his judgments, his paths beyond tracing out! “Oh, the depth of the riches of wisdom and knowledge of God! Dan and his wife Anita have three adult children, and live in Thompson’s Station, TN. He studied Philosophy and Religion, and became a worship leader, songwriter, professor, and pastor in the Vineyard (see Vineyard Worship). After encounters with Christ in high school and college, Dan devoted his life to loving, and being loved by, Jesus. In college, Sam recalls walking into the local Vineyard Christian Fellowship and hearing the Holy Spirit say, “These are your people.” He, his wife Tiffanee, and two daughters reside in Campbellsville, KY where he works as a Chiropractor, rides motorcycles, and writes songs.ĭan Wilt grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania, searching for the shimmering truth behind everyday life. Sam Yoder was born into an Amish family of six children, and his parents led their children out of the Amish after having encountered the extravagant goodness of God in Jesus. Or the riches of Your glory be appraised? The best is yet to come for Your childrenĪnd by what measure could Your worth be weighed? Here is the story behind the song.Īll that You’ve prepared for Your children This collaboration between friends seeks to do all three in a way that inspires the Church to worship. We Carry Hard To Find And Sold Out The Fillmore Detroit Tickets At The Cheapest Prices If you want to disable a vehicle's engine, aim for the razor wire. Note that razor wire isn't on all vehicles, only some - typically IFVs or APCs. One seemingly intentional design choice by Squad's developers when it comes to some vehicles is to put razor wire over where the vehicle's engine is. However this does not apply to tanks, which can easily engage and knock out vehicles (and other tanks) at extreme ranges. Close the distance and this ceases to apply. For example if you're in an APC or IFV and are engaging another APC/IFV at extreme ranges (1000 meters and above) it is entirely possible that you will not do damage to the other vehicle, even if you're in a stronger vehicle and hitting a relatively weak spot. The distance and angle you engage a vehicle at plays a role on whether a shot will penetrate or bounce. Engine hits are also noticeable by how there will be copious amounts of sparks flying everywhere upon impact, along with a very loud and distinctive audio cue that sounds like firecrackers. This does not necessarily mean your main gun cannot defeat the vehicle you're engaging, just that you need to aim at a weaker part of the vehicle.īut how do you know if you're doing damage and not deflecting? Easy - a damaging or otherwise penetrating shot produces grey/black smoke upon impact. This is indicative of your main gun either being underpowered to do damage to the armor or hitting it at an angle that causes deflections no matter what. For example, if you shoot at an enemy vehicle and notice your shots are producing green/yellow sparks with no smoke upon impact, that means that your shots are not penetrating and are actually bouncing off the armor being shot at. There are some visual cues that denote how your shots on enemy armor are being received. The difference between 1 and 2 here could mean victory or a trip back to the spawn menu. However it often takes two or more ATGM missiles to kill a vehicle with Blue rated armor, instead of the 1 it typically takes for a well placed side or rear shot. One other thing to mention is that hitting frontal Blue rated armor with an ATGM is not at all a waste of ordinance - it does do significant damage. It is possible, and advisable, to break a Blue rated turret and either disengage or flank around to the side or rear for a kill. The damage to a turret can range from the gunner losing stabilization to being completely unable to move the turret in any direction. If damaged enough, these parts become broken and (mostly) useless until they are repaired, even if the overall health of the vehicle is still intact. The turret, along with other parts of vehicles, all have specific health values. This does not, however, mean that you should avoid targeting Blue rated turrets. Many of the turrets on vehicles in Squad have Blue rated armor, which as mentioned above protects the vehicle from serious harm when faced with explosives. Heavy Machine Guns will not do as much damage to red/yellow/orange rated armor on Tanks and some IFV's (like the Bradley) 50 cal HMG (emplacements included)ĭo not engage Blue rated armor with 14.5mm main guns - in terms of damage you'll only be scratching the paint.
